This is a great post on Inbound Marketing - especially as it relates to non-profits. Many times, marketers think that because they are "non-profit" or "for profit" that they have completely different methodologies. Nothing could be further from the truth. Check out this post, and you'll see what I mean!

Online versus Offline - balance?
OK, so I read a post over at Target Marketing (http://www.targetmarketingmag.com) about taxing web sales to level the playing field between online retailers (he specifically targeted Amazon) and local, "offline" retailers.
It immediately struck a chord with me, and I wrote a rather lengthy response. I am going to post my response below, but you need to read his article to better understand. Here is the link to his article:

Google Places = more leads and more customers!
Google Places isn't just another social media fad or passing idea. It's now an integral part of Web search as we know it.
What is it? It's a platform that lets businesses interact directly with their customers online. It's also a powerful tool for attracting new prospects and customers, and it helps you rank higher in the search engines. (especially Google…) It really is Google’s answer to a combination of Facebook, LinkedIn, Four Square and other platforms. But to summarize what it

Vision Statements versus a Vision?
So a forum friend of mine, Debbie Benstein (she lives in Israel, but we chat every day...) challenged other members of the forum about having a vision for their business. I immediately went into business planning mode, and snapped off a reply using the template from The Simple Focus Plan. She quickly corrected me. So, I must publicly thank her.
There is a difference between a clearly stated vison statement for your plan, and having a vision for what your company, organization or

Open to new ideas?
So, this past week was a bit nutty for me. My idea generation capabilities seems to be in overdrive, and I am executing on several of them (which is a good thing right...???).
But I had a chance to spend Saturday evening with some friends, and we started talking about what was different and why I was gaining so much traction and momentum. And it dawned on me that I was truly open to new ideas. I was not trying really hard to come up with any one of them, but I was open to every one of

Simple Business Plan - The Power of Focus!
The human mind is a powerful thing. I saw this article on Yahoo games, and when I did it, the immediate reaction is “whoa! That’s cool.” But then I really stopped to think about it, it made me come to the realization that our mind really can put the pieces together, and create a visual reality without all the information, even if it is just for a second… If you focus on it. Really focus on it.

Simple Business Plan - The myths of creating a plan #2 No Time To Plan
So, here is #2 in the 10 video series about the myths of business plans, and the excuses of why business people don't have a plan for their business. I am going to come right out and say it-
If you do not have a plan for your business (regardless of size), you are limiting your success, and probably even hurting your business.
